PAY CUT

Pros

There's not many pros to this company anymore: relationships built w/students, you don't have to make your own material, and that's basically it.

Cons

Company makes it clear that they do not care about their teachers: they almost always side w/parents if theirs a complaint even if its on the kids fault, they do nothing to protect their teacher's bookings from parents who double book then cancel before the 24-hour mark, and on top of this they just installed a new pay structure that is a paycut for the vast majority of its teachers and gets rid of the opportunity to earn more the longer you stay with the company. It is very obvious that they are hiring new teachers at lower base rates & trying to cut hours to their veterans (yes, many of us have seen direct evidence of how they offer parents free courses or other incentives to book new teachers that they then pay less). There was a time when this was a great company to work for, but with the way things are going it's time to start looking elsewhere.

Pros

Working from home and the kids.

Cons

The company has been making a lot of changes over the past year or so and not positive changes. They are introducing a new pay structure that affects all new hires and is being forced on veterans, ultimately resulting in a pay cut for most of their teachers. They have over hired teachers and bookings take forever to start getting consistently and unless you are very lucky, they start dropping the longer you stay with the company, I can only maintain about half the schedule that I used to. The company puts out “videos” to explain things to teachers but they are very off putting and condescending. In their official facebook group, people who are supposed to be speaking on behalf of the company are either very sarcastic or dismissive of the concerns. This used to be an amazing company when they were smaller but as they have grown they quit caring about their teachers. Responses from support are basic and canned copy/paste responses. Getting technical help in the classroom takes an act of congress to get someone to show up and when they do you cross your fingers and hope they don’t blame the issue on you so they don’t have to pay you for that class.

Pros

Choose your own schedule, flexible hours, work from home, you will love the students, curriculum is good

Cons

Poor communication between teacher and company, company is cutting salaries for all teachers. NO chance of raise or promotion. You are only a number to the company, easy to replace. I have been with the company almost three years, and they continue to cut back on incentives and don't appear to care for their teachers. With the current cutbacks, I will now make less money than I did three years ago for working the same hours. Hard and nearly impossible to get straight up answers when issues come up.
