vitas is a toxic work environment. Where you hear all to often about employees being bullied, over worked, stressed and disrespected. Upper management consists of a toxic few, who are unable to think critically and come up with creative ideas to make the company thrive. Instead employees are told to keep their head down, don’t speak and continue to work. A normal work day consists of running around the state driving 2-4 hrs a day with an 8 hour work load. Please don’t be fooled by the smooth talking and promises of the interview, there is a reason why they have so many positions to fill!

I loved getting to work with patients and their family members in their most trying times. Hospice was a calling for me.

Cons

The company has been understaffed for years. Patient case loads more than doubled however extra staff was never added. Mileage on my car from traveling almost the entire state became so extreme that I can't continue to do this. Management doesnt support staff, and made promises they didn't keep. Vitas does NOT live by their core value "we take care of our own." The benefits are horrible. Deductables are so high that insurance did not pay for any part of an ER visit that was made at the beginning of the year. When I see my primary dr it costs me over $100 a visit. Make sure you use all your PTO before you resign.

The office staff is nice and they are like a little family.

Cons

Management are a bunch of racist and have had several complaints to corporate along with pending investigation from the EEOC. Every white person in that office is in management and sits in the front of the office. The staff had numerous complaints about their treatment in the office. All the money Vitas makes, but they want to pay their employees peanuts!! This place has a high turn over.
