Pros

The pros I have for this job are the slide, the summer hours and the people I met. The people I met were very nice and I made life long friends here. The owners are very nice as well and seem down to earth.

Cons

While the people there are nice, it doesn’t change the fact there are major problems. I’ve worked here for two years as an intern and full time and there are so many problems within the company. Management is very poor and no matter how many times I brought up my concerns, management would constantly shrug it off until the problem came back to bite them back. My team and I constantly felt understaffed and when asked if we can have help we were either promised help from the warehouse team and never fulfilled that promise or we were told we didn’t need another person despite one of the team members being on temporary leave. Managers also would make changes to the department despite not understanding how it would affect the work flow or how the work flow even works. There is a clear favoritism within in departments and often times my team felt like we were left in the dust. When asked for supplies or features to improve on the area such as better lighting, it fell on deaf ears. The pay was not that great and I actually got a pay cut when I transferred into full time, maybe it was my department I was transferring into, but HR decreased my pay when I was hired full time. The sales and business may be great and I can’t doubt it, but it’s a ghost town and there are people doing the work of multiple people. The office feels so empty to what it once was it’s really depressing and devoid of life. There was no room to grow at least in my department and those who were seniors had the same title as an associate despite being in the company long, there was no way to differentiate us. I was constantly set up for failure by my manager and felt belittled.

This is a surprising review since you actually referred your close friend to work for our company whom we hired based on your recommendation to work temporarily in the same department. You applied for an open position following your internship with a clear rate of pay and were given a written offer which you accepted including rate of pay along with our exceptional benefits package of 25 paid days off and holidays and 75% paid health insurance coverage and more. We appreciate your feedback, however we do not agree that you were forthright regarding your experience with our company. I do understand there was another position you were looking to be placed in, and I am sorry it was not the right fit. However, I do not feel it warranted the erroneous content that you wrote above. We do wish you much success in your new position and thank you for your service for the past 2 years and for your participation on our culture committee to promote employee engagement and wellbeing. Pros

Granted, I've only worked at a dozen or so different companies in my lifetime, but Valley Forge Fabrics is by far the best company I have ever worked for. I would have preferred to stay there until retirement, but their most recent business-altering challenge made that impossible. VFF survived a couple serious challenges during my 7 1/2 years there (a cyber-attack and the pandemic) - they not only survived those, but became a better, stronger company as a result of them. But this most recent challenge left them no options - they sold off the entire fabrication division of the company - which was where I worked. Some reasons why I say this company is The Best: - Wages: Over the years, they continued to reward my hard work with substantial increases. - Management: By far, the best managers I have ever reported to! (Special shout-outs to Allison & Brandi). The best because they genuinely care about their employees, they are always open to discussion, and they are very knowledgeable. - HR: Ward and his team were always available, and have absolutely gone over-and-above in every situation - I can't say enough good things about them! - Projects: I am SO appreciative to have had the opportunity to work on some amazing high-end projects which challenged my ability and afforded me the chance to increase my expertise & product knowledge! - Offices: Absolutely unparalleled! I knew instantly when I walked into the office for my first interview that this was an exceptional environment. The perks are outstanding! (Gym, locker-rooms, zen room, gourmet coffeemaker, etc.)

Cons

Some may consider it a "con" but I prefer "challenge" - "The Forge" is the new end-to-end software system, and it involves quite a learning-curve. It is exceptionally complicated and demands a great deal of concentration and attention to detail.

Selling the window treatment division was not an easy choice, but it was absolutely the right choice for the business. Focus is a huge component in success, and having our focus on decorative fabrics and bedding, and no longer on window treatments and the installation that goes with them, is vital to our continued growth. However, with that, there were many team members we had to say goodbye to. YOU my friend, are one of them. Please stay in touch with us. You are and forever will be family to all of us here at VFF. mikey

Thank you for pointing out our great peer-to-peer experience and we try to extend that rapport with our customers as well. We have made work life more flexible, hybrid, closing early on Summer Fridays and added 2 holiday to our schedule for more long weekends. Our PTO is amongst the highest in the industry. We do work hard but our goal is to work smart and efficiently using great technology to simplify the mundane tasks. I appreciate your service with us and wish you continued success in your next role. Please reach out if you need my help in any way. Mikey
