Pros

I feel like I work for a company that makes the world a better place for many people, which is very rewarding. We have a good culture here. I really enjoy the team I work with. We have clear goals and work together to achieve them. My boss is supportive, ethical, and honest, which makes a big difference. I’ve been offered other positions with higher pay (though my current pay is still great), but having a great boss and coworkers is priceless in any job. I took my LinkedIn profile down because I do not want recruiters bothering me, I hope to stay here a long time. There are many employees that have been here for over 20 and 30 years.... low turnover is nice as well.

Cons

I work with contracts and third-party payers, and occasionally their actions or decisions can be frustrating to watch, especially when it affects the people we serve.

Pros

Fantastic interaction with patients recovering from a multitude of addictions. It's a learning experience about the recreational drug culture and how it is affecting young people. It helps develop more compassion toward others with addictions once you know and see the difficulties the patients go through. The work is personally rewarding.

Cons

The organization itself is extremely disorganized. They have no structured training program for new employees. The salary is not competitive and the benefits are below standard. Minimal, if any, professional respect or growth opportunity.

Pros

Some great people are working there but they are all frontline staff or near the bottom of the corporate structure.

Cons

Corporate may have removed the most toxic leaders there but there are still managers and directors that were just as toxic as those leaders. 10 - 15 years ago Valley Hope actually had competent leaders. Now it is full of fluff and managers that are just trying to milk the company until they retire. (Corporate is in a tiny rural town, so they have managers that have no accolades or qualifications to be doing what they are doing) I recommend researching what a 990 is and what 501(C) is required to do.
