Pros

Can' t think of any best reasons..

Cons

Consulting firm is always unstable during a slow economy. Hardly any engagements in the horizon. Those on the bench need to be worried.

Pros

Valtech used to have a strong reputation in the Agile and Object Oriented software development space but that has changed dramatically. Now it's focused on body shopping and the US CEO, Brad Murphy, doesn't care about staff or take the time to communicate on what the company is doing. The best part of Valtech is its recruiting team, they are all very nice but I think they're also as frustrated and there are a few good managers who have been with the company for awhile but they're all scared of losing their jobs so they don't say or do anything. They used to have quarterly bonuses, a great employee computer purchase plan, good projects and training for staff. It's all gone now though.

Cons

Ever since the VP of Delivery was released the company has become exclusively focused on sales. Anyone with technical skills is viewed as a necessary evil and there is no concern for career progression, mentoring or training. It wasn't always this way, there was a time about a year and a half ago that there were quarterly bonuses, mentoring, interesting internal projects if you were on the bench and all staff received training. Now there's hardly any communication, there are tons of managers who contradict and fight over everything and the company hasn't been profitable since the last VP of Delivery left. They've shut down their development centers and most of the work is onsite at client locations now. The global CEO, Johnathan Poole, is completely unaware of how the business is being managed and whenever he comes to the US he's more interested in his company car and apartment than he is staff.

Pros

- If you want to work 9 - 6 and just do a job, this is a good place to work. - The quality of technical people at Valtech is top knotch. - If you dont like thinking outside your role, this is a good place. - If you like to talk a lot and work less, this is a good place. - If you dont mind your projects failing as long as you keep your job, this is a good place - If you are good at office politics, this is the perfect place.

Cons

- Treated as a resource. - For a small company, there is too much management. - Management competency is very low. - Agile is the main competency, but it is only a pretence. - There is only command control in place.
