Pros

Generous benefits, respect of the community, ranked 15th of academic institutions getting NIH grants (in amounts received), in the clinical sciences department-a real feeling of camaraderie and unified purpose.

Cons

Still a small town, small-time atmosphere in some ways, can be very insular particularly with non-Southerners, the pressure for career advancement can make some people do awful things.

Great access to resources and equipment. Good pay and flexible working hours. Everything is centrally located unlike some large medical centers.

Cons

Little guidance or help given to students. Often made to feel unimportant or ignored. Overall the environment does not foster growth.
