Pros

When I first started, this was a great place to work. Our leader was visionary and highly supported our efforts. We were encouraged to innovate and think outside the box. We had flexibility to find real solutions. Things went off the rails when he left.

Cons

Vanguard has lost sight of the competitive advantage that agile provides. They are going backwards to traditional waterfall. To make matters worse, psychological safety is non-existent. Morale has taken a major blow. Coaching group leadership lacks vision and strategy.

Pros

Mission oriented culture High degree of collaboration Client centric mentality Strong coaching to people managers. I learned my best habits from the care and time coaching of leadership skills. Great hidden benefits (401k, partnership, health subsidies)

Cons

Managers matter. Networking matters. Myopia can set in for those that only get an inside-out view. Slow to decision making.

Pros

Benefits are decent. Good opportunity to get your feet wet in the financial market. Some managers are great

Cons

Vanguard’s technology ALWAYS runs into problems. They haven’t updated their systems and state that it’s because they aren’t a brokerage firm for with day trading software. Because of technology deficiencies, expect to get yelled at by clients for lack of efficiency. A lot of managers seem to care about you and your development but really are insincere. They pretend to care as this will boost their own brand. It’s extremely difficult to get promoted into a role that isn’t on the phone. They won’t allow you time off the phone to collaborate with peers but instead keep you on the phone taking calls nonstop.
