      Pros

      It's an industry leading mutual fund giant. Vanguard is well respected not only by members of the financial services field, but by individual investors world wide. The dedication to ethics and prudent long term investings makes for a reliable company.

      Cons

      I was hired during the wrong period, as soon as I was up for a promotion out of my current position the markets crashed. During times of economic expansion, I heard that it was much easier to move up in the company. Since the recession started, there's been no movement, though there haven't been any layoffs either...

      Pros

      Bonuses twice yearly which prevent staff from quitting.

      Cons

      Extremely unprofessional HR department. HR not following legal guidelines. A culture of you have to dance to the drum or else. Call centre culture in Manchester and staff treated as problematic or ignored when raising concerns. Staff told not to take breaks they are legally entitled to due to the department being understaffed. Only opportunities for career development if you know the right people. Want staff on the lowest salaries to centre their life around their job in order to progress.

      none of the leaders have a clue, making it up as they go along at the expense of their reports. your experience is luck of the draw depending on your manager. people are hired based on connections, not merit
