Pros

-Excellent Training - There is so much training you can invest your time in, both classroom and self study -Excellent Benefits - Especially the 401(k) if you plan to stay long enough to become vested - Unlimited access to tea and coffee - A glowing sense of self satisfaction knowing you work for the best investment option for clients (who already know what they're doing), if you're into that kind of thing

Cons

- No Chance To Use Training - Despite the abundance of training, you are rarely given a chance to use much of it as a majority of positions are redundant - No Time for the Training - The company many times cancels training classes since they are not staffed for heavier phone traffic - The company only has three locations (PA,NC and AZ) but the main branch in PA treats the other two sites like unwanted step children. AZ in particular is limited due to the time zone and the limited number of departments there. It seems an incompetent glad hand in PA has a better chance of succeeding then a stud in AZ. - You are surrounded by middle aged people who have either flew too close to the sun and are now shell shocked into mediocrity or carnie folk who are self actualized being a cube zombie. These same people try to convert you into a complacent drone by telling you, "Well, at least you have a job" and "You are so lucky you found Vanguard at a young age."

Pros

Very good place to learn about enterprise computing. Vanguard's reputation in the industry is at the top.

Cons

When projects run over budget they'll cut you off.. without prior notice. 1/3 of all Vanguard employees are contractors. This is so they can tout the "We've never laid of an employee" line.. which anyone who know anything can read right through. Their contracts are written to be canceled without reason.. oh, yes the budget was reduced. Get your pay while you can. When the money is spent they'll let you go... or, just send an email to someone outside of VGI and they'll use it as a reason for dismissal if they want.. this is very common. Vanguard is all about getting value for their customers... even at the expense of the vendors. This is a very bad game to play, as you'll only hurt your suppliers and drive VGI's costs higher as they go bankrupt or up your costs. Obviously the best deal isn't always the best longterm plan.

Pros

Great training and great people to work with to start. Easy job, low expectations, friendly management, great benefits. Again, great place to work for a year or two.

Cons

Looking for brainless employees who can follow a script and churn out the calls. employees - even when asked by management for constructive feedback should ALWAYS be positive and NEVER provide constructive feedback. If you like to just wade through life, and you are not looking to "get ahead" this is the place for you. If you are ambitious, hungry, and want to grow your life and career, go elsewhere.
