Pros

Very good benefits package, generous tuition reimbursement. Ethical and honest company. What you see is what you get. Thorough training program. Beautiful campus, outstanding dual-screen technology, a free library with investment books. Opportunities to develop yourself and participate in finance classes and other trainings at Vanguard's expense. Ample overtime opportunity, especially during tax time.

Cons

Easy to get pigeonholed into a role. Difficult to get promoted from some entry level positions. Salaries relatively low for the industry. Performance standards can be grueling. Management team works employees very hard for a mediocre salary.

Pros

Benefits are still good, but have been declining. It's a better place to start your career right out of school as opposed to being mid career and moving there.

Cons

Most of the company has moved towards a call center type. Promotions seem to go to the person who has been around the longest, not the most qualified.

Pros

Vanguard has great benefits especially when it comes to paid time off, which is absolutely necessary because otherwise you'd waste away in a sea of cubicles waiting for a beep in your ear so some client could gripe about something that's out of your control.

Cons

Unfortunately everyday is much like the one that preceded it. I feel like I'm living the movie "Office Space". See, I'm in a "sales" role, though I have no real incentive to close a client because my paycheck is the same regardless. Fortunately for me management also doesn't care if I close the client; they only care if a third party listening to the call thinks I covered everything on a checklist. The people who succeed sound like robots. So though my day and my calls aren't technically scripted, it definitely feels that way. Sadly, every upward progression through the company still leaves you tethered to a phone.
