Pros
Vector Security is a privately owned company, so it has the privilege to make long term decisions about it's employment terms and the way it does business. It has a history of promotion from within, with a CEO who started over 30 years ago in an entry level position. Opportunities to make a serious impact exist even with junior employees, as the mid-level management (Director and below), have good relationships with all their employees and a familiarity with all aspects of the department's activities, having come from those roles through their careers. They will take heed of advice, suggestions, and new ways of doing business. They have a strong and dedicated customer base, and have recently entered new markets, giving them a strong outlook for growth and opportunity for employees.
Cons
The organization runs very lean on personnel, with a latency between business growth and the opportunity to bring on new staff to handle additional workload. There are two main areas of focus for the company: home security and national accounts; home security is less impacted by this detraction as their growth is more linear, but for the national accounts (Vector Security Networks) division, this can lead to overwork and mandatory overtime. It is because of this stress level that I hesitate to recommend employment to friends, although I would strongly recommend employment at the home security level as the job has many of the same benefits without the stress.
