Pros

You won't find a better group of passionate team members than at Valassis. From Executives to Managers and Peers everyone is extremely helpful, pleasant to work with/for and it makes you want to do your best work every single day. Managers work with you and truly have a vested interest in your success. Ability to work from home is a huge plus.

Cons

Many layers of Data to Navigate and it takes time to understand the many products, processes, teams, access points, etc. Streamlining systems or access points would make sales job a bit easier. Processes also need to be revamped and streamlined (contracting for example). There is no sales development support - no leads coming in, no pipeline development. Sales reps spend a ton of time running down dead end leads instead of truly selling to hot prospects.

Pros

There are some AMAZING people who work there (associates and leaders) and help is NEVER hard to come by if you need it. The history of people at the company is truly inspiring and most people have a strong sense of pride in what they do. One work from home day every week Overtime pay over 40 hours is a very unique benefit. Good benefits / 401k match

Cons

Unfortunately, Valassis is the last remaining (legitimate) player in the print industry and are just trying to stay a float. There is a CLEAR sense of panic/uncertainty throughout the company and there does not seem to be a clear or effective plan to turn the ship around. This also leads to general frustration among the majority of employees and seems like everyone is keeping their resume up to date... Almost NO opportunity for advancement or legitimate pay increase (which is obviously due to the lack of growth within the company) While there are some amazing Managers at Valassis, most lack the transparency needed between them and the people on their team and seem to encourage associates to continue going above and beyond with no expectation of advancement or promotion. Constant "innovations" or "solutions" are being rolled out that have very little effect on the overall success of the company and seem to create more work for anyone that might not benefit from the change.

Pros

The people I worked with and the work-life balance was great!

Cons

There was a challenge every month trying to determine how much commission you were going to make or if you would get commission at all. A few co-workers were 140% and above for quota and got $0. Sales Managers don’t have a backbone and can’t make any decisions. You actually had a manager going around giving out coffee pod if you booked more then $10k in a week as a form of saying “good job”. Shouldn’t the pods be free? 😂 Was this some sort of contest award? Stay away from the organization!
