Pros

Always lots of opportunities to EAT!!! $45,000.00 annual starting salary for CSP not too bad

* Lies and gossip are the norm (and that's from management!) * NO meeting occurs unless there is a pre-meeting that management outlines for you, what you ARE or ARE NOT suppose to discuss. Explicitly described that if you waiver from this coercion, it could be a career altering decision. * Lack of managerial training in regards to subordinate employee's rights * Deceitful practices in how the purchasing dept is ordered by corporate higher ups to cut inventory to the BONE, below what had been an established critical inventory level. All of this to lessen outlay inventory $$. * Forcing vendors into waiting for payment for products and services, even beyond credit terms that Veritiv won't even extend to it's own customers.

Pros

Warehouse and drivers great crew with Unisource. Did have a good teamwork environment.

Cons

Hostile merge with Xpedx, brought service quality levels way down. Corporate communication is terrible, moral has changed for the worst. Logistics managers are a puppet controlled by regional management.

From unionized employees' points on views, below are the benefits and advantages of becoming Calgary unionized employees. These are the trade secrets of succeed becoming unionized. - Salaries - High hourly salary with daily overtimes and work on holidays. 12-hour work day everyday and work on holidays could make more than $100,000 easily. No matter junior or senior unionized employees, they make easy money in short times. Calgary unionized employees have the highest paid rates all times across in Canada and USA. Unionized employees make easy money than Operations Managers, General Managers and above. Veritiv is a billion-dollar company where they give their easy money away to unionized employees. The math is so unreal. $$$ - Job Securities - No matter the economy is bad or worst. Ex. 2008 recession and Calgary oil & gas 2015 to present in Calgary. Employees still have their jobs with their big pay checks daily. Whereas the non-unionized employees that's different stories. Managers dislike their supervisors all the time. Check the Calgary supervisor postings daily. Facts do not lie. - Responsibilities - The low standards from the company, under-performed employees and bad behavior workers have increased. There are too many bad apples which they pull down the positive employees. Unionized employees make their strong contracts and strong cases to do minimum work and get away with troubles. Every contracts are much strong than the previous ones. Unionized employees have minimum standards, no education requires, no high demands. Poor and negative employees do last long-term employments in Calgary. Unionized employees can make non-unionized employees leave voluntary. Past histories do not lie. Unionized employees can give back the responsibilities back to management easily just like adults take toys away from babies. Base on employees' bad mouth, poor communications, negative attitude, individual's actions, the place is daycare centers for adults. - Loopholes - Warehouse makes up of more unionized employees VS non-unionized employees. unionized employees speak louder than management and the company. Verbal and written warnings are very weak. Unionized employees get away with murder when trouble occurs. Poor attendances, high picking errors, poor attitudes, verbal abuses, physical harassment and low productivity would lead to no hard consequences and no big troubles. Freedom. Calgary unionized employees know the management's busy time, weaknesses, hidden spots to hide and the lacks of support from management due to high turnovers from non-unionized employees. Work less with high paid is a dream job in Calgary Veritiv. Unionized employees know inside out from the managements rules and operations. Join and become unionized in Calgary Veritiv.

Cons

Union dues, sick days not paid however with OT, it is easy to recover the lost paid. No incentives doing more and do better. High workplace gossips, poor morale environment. Junior unionized employees have no says and no grounds. Just like high schools, seniors treat juniors poorly, verbal abuse and physical harassment to others.
