      Pros

      Decent pay, very good benefits. The telecomm industry changes rapidly, so there is usually something new to learn. A few long-term employees who have managed to embrace the suck.

      Cons

      The management practices date from the 1800's. HR is out to get you. Managers have to go against corporate policies to be human and decent to you. Or even to socialize with you. Very bottom-line oriented in a short-sighted way on the software side. Waterfall process. Over-reliance on H1B workers. The business is cold and hostile and employees are just a means to an end. Everybody has to work against that to get through the day.

      Pros

      Awesome sales training and support. I started this job with only customer service experience (waiting tables) and a college degree and this job has given me a professional skill set and confidence. The leaders are open minded and humble. Hourly pay + commissions + bonuses + sales contests + 401k and benefits have kept me here longer than I anticipated.

      Cons

      A retail schedule is hard for work life balance, especially during the holidays. The company and industry is always evolving, sometimes multiple times within the same day or week, so if you are resistant to change this is not for you.
