Pros
Vetcove has everything you could want in a small company: a great mission, a service with proven market value that is highly respected in the industry, capable colleagues you can learn from, tons of autonomy and freedom to accomplish your work goals while still having a lot of support and mentoring, freedom to live and work almost anywhere in the U.S. (the company is permanent remote), and lots of opportunity for growth. I can't think of a reason you would NOT want to work at Vetcove if you are a capable employee who's always looking to learn more in your craft and beyond. Cross-team collaboration and transparency are highly valued in the org., and there is a culture that sees mistakes as learning opportunity. Social events are selected by vote, and have been great for cohesion during the pandemic. Both new grads and more experienced employees all really thrive here. 401K has an automatic match even if you don't contribute anything yourself! Upper management knows its employees are its most valuable asset, and is very accessible for conversation with every employee to ensure their happiness.
Cons
Not so much a "con" as having standards, but expectations are high. Everyone is encouraged to take time off and have a life outside of work, but there is no "coasting" on the job. You are expected to pitch in to solve problems cross-functionally as they come up, and encouraged to learn as much about other departments as you need to get the job done, and always understand the business value of what you're doing. So if you have a narrow focus with a "that isn't my job" attitude about your work responsibilities and don't want to grow and expand your horizons beyond your initial experiences, this may not be the place for you.
