I Would Certainly Not Recommend Working Here

Pros

- Some absolutely phenomenal coworkers! - Easy interviewing process. Quarterly meetings which have a happy hour afterward in which they provide you with a free hotel room, free alcohol, and free food.

Cons

- Work environment can be hostile and disrespectful. - High expectations (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) but they do not provide their employees with resources to meet those expectations. My work load was very heavy and usually I needed help because it was too much for me to complete on time. Sometimes help was given but when it wasn’t, I had to rush through my work, often overlooking small details and making errors. This could have been prevented if I had been given the assistance I requested. - Micromanagement to the point that it’s truly appalling. The micro-managing I experienced was so bad that it became a DISTRACTION from my work. To have my boss constantly calling, emailing, IMing, or just plain looming over me while I’m trying to do my work made it difficult to for me to focus and stay on task. - Extremely high turnover rate, leaving the company understaffed and employees working long hours as well as their PTO requests being denied. Yet the company still treats their employees as expendable resulting in their personal improvements and needs being completely ignored.

Pros

Conference is nice, but that money needs to be used on raises for the staff!

Cons

I have deemed this job impossible

I understand your frustration about the pay for the job that is required. There was a four part series in the Columbus Dispatch last weekend detailing how underfunded our services are for Ohio's most vulnerable individuals, which translates into lower wages for our great employees. As Providers we are all paid the exact same rates for services and in turn we all compensate in very similar ways. I share your frustration as does every Provider in the state. Our trade association, the County Boards of DD, and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities are all trying to rectify this horrible situation. We are so lucky to have such caring and compassionate caregivers who do so much for the many people we serve!

Pros

I do not see any pros at this time.

Cons

The company is petty, there is constant turnover. I was the longest hospice employee and I had only been there close to two years. I am Deaf and had not requested services until the hospice grew. I then asked for limited services that would enable me to better perform my job duties. I was also bullied by HR and a Chaplain and management permitted this to continue for months. The more I requested services both verbally and written the more harassment there was. I was written up for petty reasons such as: using the word funeral and time. It is my job as a SW to ask about funeral arrangements. I was fired yesterday for unknown reasons. The bottom line is that this company allowed me to be bullied, they retaliated, ignored my request for ADA accommodations, and terminated my employment yesterday. By the way I was employee of the year and have been recognized in news articles for my patient care.

It is difficult to respond to a post that is not based on reality and is basically a rant of innuendo and untruths. We are very lucky to have great employees who have dedicated their lives to serving people in need. Because of these great employees we deliver exceptional services led by an amazing leadership team.
