      Pros

      VCU offers reasonable pay and the pleasure to work with some incredible researchers. In addition, Richmond Virginia is a great place to live and raise a family.

      Pros

      Great benefits package, collegial atmosphere, diverse community. Access to considerable resources, including online training and extensive library/database. Fantastic gym facilities for bargain prices. Tuition waivers. Professional experience will vary greatly depending on position and Department.

      Cons

      Lack of opportunities for internal growth--the only way to advance is to apply for another position. There is lack of loyalty here...no guarantee that if you put in time and effort you will be rewarded for those efforts if applying for another position in same Department. Parking expensive and often far from work location (you won't be running any errands on your breaks). Starting to adopt very draconian attitudes towards time flexibility-but again this varies depending on where you are working.
