Pros

Office looks nice and everyone has big computer monitors. Free lunch is provided M/W/TH. Onsite gym and Ping-ping area are good for exercises.

Cons

No work life balance (9/9/6 or even 9/9/7); Hard to take vacation time as work-load is too high; Pressure from peer and manager make you feel guilty to take time off; Daily work is fast-paced but low-level repeated work with plenty of manual editing; No room for career advancement at all. What you will get is 1.2x pay with >2x effort. Use your own judgement. If you want a career, not just a job, look other places.

The worst company

Pros

It serve lunch and fruits.

Cons

It hires foreign PhD (physics) students who can't find jobs anywhere else. So CGG can ask his employees to do anything anytime, because CGG know his employees won't leave, because they are hard to get another offer. The company tried his best to produce horrible peer pressure: It offers a very low base salary, but pretty generous with bonus, if you can work overtime. So many of your colleagues will work to midnight. Do you want to follow? It fires experienced people who can't work so late, because CGG knows there are enough fresh students in the market. If you are younger than 30, you don't have kids, you can work 12 hours per day, 7 days per week, you want to die 10 years younger than others, and you can't find other jobs, go to CGG.

Losing the edge

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Good Benefits (Pay, medical, 401K) Leading edge technology, but losing the edge as other players catch up.

Cons

Too many levels of management. Not enough advancement opportunities (unless you're Asian) Many Senior Management are no longer effective and have become a drain n resources. Many new hires are non-geophysical disciplines and have a steep learning curve, then they leave after 3 years to join competitors.
