Pros

Work from home Great people to work with

Cons

The patient panels per coach are now around 350 patients per coach and growing nonstop, resulting in burn out. Compensation is stagnant and any increase is a joke.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Virta. We appreciate your feedback and take it seriously. Virta’s Health Coaches play an integral role at Virta in reversing diabetes and we recognize that while this is rewarding, it can also be challenging and demanding! We’ve committed to regularly surveying the team to better understand where we can provide support and based on feedback from our coaches, we are partnering together to improve our processes and tools. We are also expanding Health Coach input as part of the change process, and increasing education around Virta’s compensation approach. What we are doing here at Virta – reversing diabetes, preDiabetes, and obesity in 100 million people – is extremely hard to do and we couldn’t do this without our amazing team of Coaches. We are committed to investing heavily in process and product developments along with continuous training to improve every Health Coach’s experience. We are proud and constantly humbled by the impact of our Coaching team and always looking for ways to improve. We want to ensure Virta is a place where every team member can do their best work!

Pros

- Strong mission - Nice teammates for the most part - Big impact on customers lives (when it works)

Cons

- Recent layoffs/firings have really affected team morale, many teammates don’t seem happy to be here anymore based on how teammates were treated, or feel uneasy about the future - Young leadership team seem to be running around in a panic and making poor decisions as a result. Majority of seasoned senior execs have left in last 2-3 years, including experts in the diabetes field. That should tell you a lot about confidence in this company long term. - Ineffective leadership has made for a lot of bad bets and poor quality platform. - If you are in engineering or product, working here is a big challenge, you will always feel like you’re digging yourself out of a hole of poor infrastructure and code quality. Try the app for before joining, you can see it for yourself. The product has only gotten worse with time, not better. - Company is trying hard to be product-led but this is ultimately a tech enabled service, which is challenging to scale. Coaches are the core of the business, and you just need more of them. The product doesn’t offer much to customers. Execs continue to defund product and engineering efforts but expect large positive changes. - Engineering and product roll up to COO. He has very little understanding of how to build products. New CTO seems MIA. Why don’t we hear from him more?

Pros

- amazing work, truly transforming patients lives, the work is meaningful - very flexible schedule - growing company - amazing culture - little to no micromanaging - paid 1.5 time off for holidays - unlimited PTO - good health benefits

Cons

- long hours - like any start up, if you’re good at something you will get more work given to you - the work doesn’t equal to the pay - large patient panels which makes it challenging to keep up - unlimited PTO is nice however you have to cover for colleagues when they are out making it difficult on everyone - high turnover recently
