Pros

None (from the respective of an ITG employee)

Cons

-Be warned if your company is purchased by this firm. Virtu does not invest any time or research into other companies that they engulf with their "success" tactics. Though financially stable, their business practice when acquiring other companies within the industry is to simply take the brand and clients, while cleaning out the entire staff. They do NOT spend any time researching the importance of individual and team responsibilities as well as how they can be utilized or even reassigned (as proof of this practice that has happened with multiple companies). -They also own the Florida Panthers NHL team, which is one of the poorest run expansion teams of all time -Virtu Ironically gets its name from the word "virtue" which it is absolutely the polar opposite of in terms of work culture

Pros

No politics and IQ matters You either cut it or you don't Your ideal world, if you are smart

Cons

Intellectual curiosity only satisfied in a narrow band Don't plan on doing anything outside of work I was the only person in the history of this company to attend graduate school while being a trader. I don't advise that for anyone, not even Einstein. You need your creative juices during the times you shower and bathroom breaks, and it is not a typical job where you can "just get by".

Pros

You will learn a ton, and make good money, and work with great people. Overall working with great and smart people is the best part. You have to be proactive to be successful here.

Cons

If you don't love market making and arbitrage, this is not the place for you. The hours are long so only do this job if you love the area. Doesn't have the cushiness of a fortune 500 company--you can't disappear into a back corner.
