Growth opportunities galore!

I've been at the company for a few months and it's a fast paced culture that allows me to work with a lot of different disciplines. I get to learn a lot about a domain that I have always been inspired to make better. I joined because I wanted to make a positive impact on society and healthcare is an area that needs a lot of change. Since I've been here I've been able to design with clinicians, product managers, engineers, sales, marketing, strategy, customer support and other talented designers who all have much more experience than I do in different areas. Our design team has weekly crits where we share what we've worked on and help each other spot things that we may not have seen on our own. Overall, this has been the most immersive and diverse design team that I've ever worked in and what's encouraging is the leadership gives us autonomy to go deep into a problem space and find the right solutions even if it's for the near term. Since I've been here I've been able to work on things I never thought I would be able to work on like commercial spots, videos, web pages, marketing, research. It's incredible how much we get to work on here! Most of all the people. You have people who really care for each other at Vori. I've made some friends that I will keep forever.

Cons

• It was a little bumpy at first as there's immense domain knowledge that I had to learn, but it's also a series A start up trying to find product market fit. • Sometimes more junior people need a lot more attention than leaders are able to provide. • The leadership team needs to move faster at removing obstacles.

Being at an early-stage startup can feel a bit bumpy at first but the ability to work cross-functionally and so closely with other teams is priceless. Pros

Passionate team across the board. Clinical expertise is outstanding and a true differentiator for a healthcare company. For marketing, we get to build capabilities and brand from the ground up -- which is exciting as well as challenging (in a good way). Great opportunity to build partnerships across design, product, commercial, ops, strategy, clinical and people teams.

Cons

Like any start-up at our stage, its time to focus vs chase every that looks like an opportunity.

Poor Design Leadership

Pros

Passionate clinicians and a company with an admirable mission

Cons

Poor design leadership that lacks communication skills. Would rather run in circles for months and cause stressful days than ship a quality product any time in the near future. Lack of commitment to employee growth and does not take feedback well. Overall, these issues could be a dealbreaker for the company, or at least designers’ sanity.
