Pros

Ability to have huge, positive impact on patient's health and lives Inspiring, caring founders who are on an important mission to improve musculoskeletal care Experienced executive team, who genuinely care about the mission, culture and employees and has made many changes in response to employee feedback Highly collaborative environment, people pull together to get things done Strong product vision Strong market demand Very positive reception to product from clients and prospects Good technology, tools and partners Competitive pay and benefits Fully remote Stipend for training/learning

Cons

Vori is a young healthcare company, growing it's maturity with normal growing pains. As a startup, Vori is dealing with normal challenges around becoming efficient and mature within a highly regulated industry in a post-pandemic world. Startup life is not for everyone, it requires resilience, adaptability, practicality, risk tolerance, collaboration, self awareness and personal accountability. This is not a normal 9-5 type environment. That can be surprising to those without startup experience. However, it also opens up new and exciting opportunities to grow and expand your skills.

Pros

A paycheck twice a month

Cons

ZERO employee work/life balance… they treat you like a machine/robot. All they care about is you getting the massive amount of work done with no help, while attending 1,000 calls a day, then asking why the work isn’t getting done… all while adding more and more work to your plate. Oh, and “unlimited PTO” is a joke - they frown upon ANY PTO being taken. RUN AWAY!!!

As a start-up, we are growing and maturing every day. Start-up life can be different and more challenging than working for a more established organization but is also so rewarding. We appreciate your hard work and dedication to the mission of Vori Health. During busy times, leadership and the People team encourage you to reflect on our meeting norms. Please feel empowered to decline meetings that do not need your attendance and feel empowered to block your schedule on “no meeting Wednesday” as you find appropriate. We’re always looking for ways to improve how we tackle our work here, and would welcome additional suggestions on how we can efficiently reach our goals. We recently switched to a flexible PTO policy to encourage greater work life balance. Vori Health encourages all team members to take time off throughout the year to rest and recharge. On a vary rare occasion a leader would need to deny a request, the leader will then work with the team member to find an alternative day prioritizing work/life balance. We encourage you to speak directly to your leader or a member of the People team about your specific needs and/or requests off.

Pros

Aspirational organization values set forth by the people leader team Collaborative clinical team Solving an important problem High impact mission

Cons

Over a period of 3.5 months, the product team experienced five departures, all women, due to an underlying product people-leader problem. During the interview, the role was positioned as a senior leadership team member who would quickly hire to grow a new internal capability. However, within the second week of employment, while still navigating onboarding steps, I was told that I “needed to show my worth.” Without consultation, my role shifted from being a strategic partner with strategy, marketing, and clinical to supporting daily engineering Agile meetings to push forward basic product functionality. Unfortunately, the product leader retaliated to my concerns about the significant discrepancy in how the role was positioned when I accepted the offer and the autonomy and time required to build a new discipline and termed the role.

Thank you for your comments regarding your experience at Vori Health. Our belief is that there is always room for improvement, and we encourage two-way feedback from our team members. The timelines, details, and context around the Product team departures stated in your review are inaccurate. We are proud to share that 80% of recent Product hires are women, which follow Vori’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment. The role of Product at Vori is to both partner strategically across the organization and also own the delivery of compelling product features, even if basic. The need to balance both strategy and delivery is even more pronounced in a fast-moving, early-stage, mission-driven startup. In this situation, we had numerous honest discussions about what success looks like and the steps needed to succeed. As with all companies, unfortunately, there are times when we recognize we need to part ways with a team member because it is no longer a good fit. If you have any specific questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to people@vorihealth.com.
