Pros

Used to be a great place that allowed for small teams of uniquely qualified individuals to blaze the trails. This is no longer. Benefits are OK, PTO is decent, pension fund is about the only thing left that is really good. Upgrades and maintenance of equipment and facilities also suffered over the years. Bill Gore founded the company to get rid of all the crap he didn't like at DuPont. Now the grandson is hiring it on a regular basis.

Cons

No real communication from leaders. Just about everything is decided behind closed doors and becomes a mandate. Upper level management (no longer leadership as they are hired in now or they kiss butt to get a promotion) looks at associates below them as expendable. Performance as well as quality issues are never really dealt with. I have seen literally tons of material thrown in the dumpster because someone missed a detail. Fair compensation is BS. You get paid one check but are expected to perform multiple roles. Gore's IT department has over 500 employees with 55 leaders and they expect you to set up your own computers and then you get bad mouthed when you didn't do it perfectly to their standards.

Pros

The people who I have worked with have been great. When everyone is on board it has been some of the best teams that I have worked on

Cons

The CEO, Bret Snyder, is driving the company into the ground. He has entirely no idea how to run a company, but instead was handed the role of CEO on a silver spoon because of his name. Zero idea how to interact with people and is a total puppet. When you get rid of good, solid leaders who have been Associates for 20+ years and have a massive following all because they disagree with your ideas (which aren't good to begin with) you need to look in the mirror and realize where the problem lies. With the amount of external hires that were brought in for leadership roles, Gore has gone from feeling like a unique company to just another company.

Not what it used to be

Pros

High quality products, interesting culture when practiced, highly committed associates.

Cons

Rapidly declining culture, policies, and working conditions that ignore the impact to associates. The current CEO (Bret Snyder) and his gang of 'yes men' have recklessly announced half-baked initiatives that have seriously eroded the trust in leadership. At every turn the Enterprise Leadership team delivers a hair brained edict without full consideration for how it will be implemented. Each email that comes from the CEO hamstrings the local leaders and seriously impacts our ability to get the job done in a positive way. All of this is happening with no sensible explanation provided to associates. I'm not sure how the company expects to continue when they are showing their best associates the door.
