Pros

Job security. There will always be trash. Decent benefits but lately higher deductibles and copays. Basically you pay more and get less each year.

Cons

Drivers starting pay well below average. Existing drivers working very long days covering unstaffed routes. Home/life balance is non-existent Monday-Friday. Plan on working Saturday, if you haven't max'd out your DOT hours Company fully onboard the woke bandwagon.

Pros

Pay is ok. Paid weekly. Benefits are ok. Job can be fun especially when kids faces light up seeing a garbage truck. You can get a lot of tips come Christmas time if you're a regular route driver. When on route, you're on your own. Management doesn't bother you too much if you're doing the job well.

Cons

Bad Management. Corperate keeps adding safety rules and devices. You can't just go out and be a garbage man anymore. You have to be much more careful. However, they still expect you to get the same routes done at the same pace. It results in you being overworked and super frustrated. Sometimes the rules aren't the safest way to do something. They've taken away many things that used to motivate people to be good workers. They used to give safety bonuses. They uses to have raffles for employees with good safety and efficiency and attendance. They used to have performance based raises. Now everyone gets the same raise. They reduced vacation. They used to take the average hours you worked and increase your hourly rate on vacation hours so you could use only 40 hours vacation but still get the same pay for the week. Now you have to use more vacation hours to get the same weekly pay. You'll average 60 hours a week at this job. So, you'll have to use 60 hours vacation. The reduced the boot reimbursement. It used to be 260 a year. Now it's 185. Maintenance is a joke. Management in maintenance is real petty too. There is crazy amounts of turnover. Red Flag. I've been with this company so long that it's scary to change jobs. If I were you, I'd avoid this place.
