Pros

I truly felt like the direct managers cared about me as an employee. they were flexible with the challenges life throws at us . They always wanted to help. The company is a great company and does so much for its members. The company is not a small credit union and has the infrastructure in place to support the members and their employees. -Awesome benefits -Great retirement contribution -Ok Vacation time/Paid time off -Diverse work environment -You get to really help people as a credit union.

Cons

Pay was a huge issue in the call center. I was there for almost 5 years and it was a constant battle to get a reasonable raise even when you exceed all of your sales and goals. The annual raise was lower than the cost of living creases I was seeing. I was in the call center and found it was not treated as fairly as the branches were with pay. The call center is not easy work. Most people can't do it. The workload kept stacking up but the pay would not increase nearly fast enough. There were a lot of turnovers because people would find better-paying work with less stress. People wouldn't show up to work most of the time due to the high-stress levels. It was nearly impossible to transfer within the company if you did not have a degree. It was like they wouldn't even consider you for positions if you were not a BA or higher. It felt like you were stuck in the contact center if that was where you began. I recommend getting on any other team outside of the contact center. The company was a great place to be.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and for your candid feedback. We’re glad to know that there were so many positive aspects of your employment at WSECU! Working in a call center can certainly be a challenging role, and we recognize that our team members work hard to provide outstanding service to our members, day in and day out. We’re sorry to hear you weren’t happy with the pay. We strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package, partnering with outside experts who review the latest employment and market trends, and just recently we adjusted upward nearly all employees’ pay because we felt strongly about recognizing our team’s contributions. We couldn’t agree more about the importance of retaining our talent, and we love to see employees moving up and around the organization to further their careers, which happens frequently! It’s true that some roles require a certain level of education, but many other roles do not, or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in many cases.

Pros

Management and coworkers are great. My day to day job is good. Generally goals are reasonable to achieve and the open door policy is real. I feel comfortable talking to all levels of management including the CEO.

Cons

The human resources department is difficult to work with and seems to lack communication skills. The pay is too low based on the market and size of the credit union.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and it’s great to hear that you enjoy your work, your coworkers and management, and the overall culture at WSECU. We strive to provide a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that supports employees in all aspects of their lives. We’re sorry to hear you’re not happy with the compensation. We monitor the market and employment trends and consult external compensation experts to help us provide competitive pay, making adjustments when needed. Just recently following an outside annual salary review in 2022, we adjusted upward nearly all employees’ compensation to align with the new market realities and our organization size. In addition, we chose to go above the consultant’s recommended percentage increase, because we felt so strongly we wanted to recognize the work of our outstanding current team and to be well prepared to compete for new talent. Lastly, it sounds like we may be missing the mark in our HR department in terms of communication, and we would be interested in hearing more. If you are comfortable having a conversation about this, we encourage you to reach out to People & Culture Services, or you can also submit feedback anonymously via HearU.

Pros

Great people Great benefits Great work life balance Walks the walk when it comes to values

Cons

The thing that's hardest about working here is seeing many talented and passionate engineers leave after a few years. It's just not a place that as a track record of developing talent. There are a few engineers who are able to develop but for the most part there are many who want to stay but can't because they aren't developing technically. Senior management tries but a lot times it feels like floundering or a lack of understanding of the skillsets of their engineers. People are hired into management who have never performed the job (or even a job related to) the people they are overseeing. Very top-down approach to management and a "get in or get out" attitude Slightly below average salary

We appreciate this valuable feedback. We’re so happy that you’re enjoying many aspects of working at WSECU, such as your coworkers, benefits, and our commitment to our company values. One of those values is the importance of professional development, so that our employees can gain the skills and experience to continue on their chosen career path, whatever that may be. We love to see our employees move up the ranks at WSECU, and it happens often! However, it sounds like we may be missing the mark in our IT department, and we would be interested in hearing more. If you are comfortable having a conversation about this, we encourage you to reach out to People & Culture Services at 800.562.0999 x10374.
