You’re graded on your work and have to be a top performer to survive. And because you’re a top performer you’ll get yelled at for the things that the bad employees do. Your performance is judge a lot on KPIs despite what management tells you. Because they’re not a sales department they don’t follow traditional KPIs. There’s no floor/target/gain, just be a top performer or you’re in trouble. The department that grades your work is way too picky and will mark you off for something even if you didn’t do it or it wasn’t your fault. They can’t be wrong, even when it’s blatant that they are. There’s no sense of a work/life balance. You’ll get yelled at for talking to your neighbor for 2 minutes at the end of the day. One time I hit traffic on the way in and was 15 minutes late and was asked if I was planning on using PTO for the time I missed. Once urgent work is done management will move up future work and add more stress while eliminating all sense of accomplishment. People around you will constantly be on their phones or doing nothing despite an overwhelming amount of work. Be prepared to be perfect all the time and go 110 miles per hour if you’re expecting to move up. Management will mislabel activities and if you don’t catch it you’ll get marked off.
