Pros

Learn to operate every single aspect of a business on ridiculously lean numbers. I almost always maxed out on my paycheck because I crushed numbers (quickly rising to the top).

Cons

Waffle House severely abuses (not physically, calm down) it's managers. They will grind every single ounce of time, energy, and spirit out of you; all in the name of "taking ownership" of your unit(s). "Taking ownership" translated means, cutting the grass at the restaurant, cleaning up blood and from gunshots in your unit at 3 AM on a Saturday morning. Doing the bulk of maintenance repairs in your store, etc. I typically worked 65-75 hours a week, which wouldn't be near as bad as the reality if those were straight hours; they aren't, those hours are broken up throughout the day and night..... All managers are REQUIRED to work literally EVERY holiday! It doesn't matter how high you climb the ladder, you will NEVER have another Christmas or Thanksgiving off, again. They manipulate young managers with empty promises of promotions and pie in the sky "performance based salary," but that's only if your hit every single bonus for that pay period. Once you figure out that Waffle House is all smoke and mirrors and dangles "golden carrots," they have you! By that point, you're working so many hours that you're to physically exhausted to look for another job! You are almost a slave, seriously......Better suited for a single person. They lie to people with families by saying "you'll beat the kids home from school, everyday!" They are a deceitful bunch. Finally, the "performance based pay" plan for management, incentivizes corruption within the entire WH system, due to the ease in manipulating the figures for the restaurants (Units) that you are responsible for. The performance numbers are self reported, by management. If a unit manager fudges his numbers to attain the next threshold of bonuses, it also financially benefits his district manager to turn a blind eye....same with the division manager, area, etc etc. This breeds a culture of immorality and corruption; a far cry from the "family friendly company" they taught themselves as. It's all lies.

Pros

The pay is pretty good for first year out of college student the higher you move up the pay increases significantly you can be off of work by 230 every day if everyone shows up on time you have to do something completely dumb to get fired 3 vacations per year

Cons

24hr 365 job even on your off days you work a 6-2 which is work 6 days then off two except holidays which is a 7-1 you work every holiday and i mean every holiday you still manage the store even when your not there and your off hiring people is harder then it looks and when you do the cream of the crop is not to creamy. upper management is generic all they care about is store profits regardless of how you have to get it. my store was robbed 3 times in 7 months. the security here is awful they want to write up everybody for everything pushing employees away and bad mouthing the company which makes it even harder to hire. upper management shows favoritism The pay plan constantly changes for the worse you are a highly paid cook!!!! you are in position to cook, serve and manage all at the same time while ordering trucks, controlling theft, and doing schedules and health inspection evaluations daily. all in all doooo not work here unless you have absolutely no life, no kids, no husband r wife, or no options

Pros

The pay is good when you reach the higher levels of the company. Overall the benefits are exceptional except the health insurance is expensive..

Cons

Working every holiday, every weekend, and all with only one day off a week. You work in a 24-hour/day business so expect phone calls on your day off, as well as late into the night.
