Pros

- relaxed environment, as you might expect - smart people to learn from - free food daily - benefits are decent - decent work-life-balance - lotta T-Shirts! - fun events - good cause, if you believe in it - good work-place perks like a gym, and my favorite--Booster fuel delivered! - exposure to lots of different projects - a healthy level of freedom when it comes to projects, thought varies

Cons

- Salary - there's definitely some cliques - no upward mobility, very little opportunity for lateral mobility too (I don't think it applies to engineering, but I could be wrong) - some people are sexist, and both female and male coworkers have noticed - lack of stability - a lot of projects get put on hold...permanently I witnessed multiple rounds of layoffs while at weedmaps some made sense others could have been avoided had they planned better. Overall, weedmaps has improved a lot from what it was 3 years ago. My advice for people considering weedmaps (especially younger people) is to get the best, reasonable offer when you start. If not in engineering, plan on only being here a couple of years at most. I wouldn't worry about cannabis "tarnishing" your resume. I had multiple offers from various industries during my time there, no problem. Read the reviews in chronological order, you'll see when the layoffs happened. There is truth in both the good and the bad. Based on my experience there and my experience at other companies, I would still recommend Weedmaps. Even with the cons listed, it's not a bad place to work and if you think it is, you ain't seen nothing!

Pros

Free lunch (I think that's gone?), cannabis smoke room (really! You can be high at work! [Probably why the company is failing] But that might be gone too). No need to try since performance isn't based on production. Just become friends with higher ups and you're in. They give generous payouts and severances when they deem you irrelevant (which is based on you not being friends with the higher ups quick enough).

Cons

Nothing challenging. WM Retail is useless. WM Orders is a failure. WM anything is as useful as a rotary phone in 2020. Technology is lagging behind all other companies. Sales people are as smart as Siri. Bosses don't care about performance. Everybody is stoned and dense. No room for growth. Won't get raises for years. You might get a review, but nothing comes from it. "New talent" means they just hired their best friend or somebody knew somebody and got a job.

Pros

Best Company for Engineer Managers and Engineers. Money is awesome. Work is minimal. Job security is amazing. Our leader is tight with CEO and part of the original boys club. And does Not throw out jobs from here to offshore for own commision. Product and Engg always at loggerheads and bickering but Engg overrules Product. Other departments can be fully laid off but not us. We can let go tiny part of worker bees but middle and executive Engg managers will be safe. Have seen other Dept Mgrs forever stressed, have mental health issues, constant allergies, going bald, having strokes .... But not us. Company is kind to hire and promote all poor hobos from lower strata of society. Does not matter you have unkempt hair, huge tattoos, torn old shorts, tummies hanging, b'tt crack showing, dogs sitting at your feet in workplace. Smoke rooms are provided for entire teams to sit in freely all day. Lots of snacks for when you get hungry. Get work done and then walk around flapping those flip flops, high AF. Many permanently WFH; smoke weed freely on con-calls. No requirement of corporate language or business casual. From executive management down, expletives and four letter words are "regular" communication. You have freedom to trash the Company all day long and still get raise/be promoted. You decide all tools and languages you will work in. Not sure what the complaints are about some people being laid off last month. Depending on how close to owner you were, you can get severance from 10 years pay to 2 days pay. They are being offered more severance to put good reviews so they do have that.

Cons

What cons? You get great money and benefits, are fed and kept High for free, WFH and save on gas, don't need business casual clothes or shoes, even talk like you are drunken sailors at a bar but no one judges, able to bring dogs and cats and parrots to work and play with them all day, are secure for life. I and everyone should be grateful.
