Good technical team but terrible management

Pros

Some great people in the development organization. You can smoke treats in the office when you want. Catered lunch.

Cons

Benefits are very mediocre if you don't smoke marijuana. 401k matching is laughable, no employee stock or bonus compensation. First week I was there an entire team was fired because the CEO wanted to shake things up. This happened again a few months later within the tech organization. Everyone works out of fear. HR accidentally hired a guy who was a raving lunatic because they didn't read an email and bother to check with the hiring team. The tech organization was without a CTO for months, and when they finally found someone he was let go two weeks later as he was found out to be working another CTO job at the same time. So many mistakes, it's laughable.

Pros

-People in non-managerial positions are usually nice and laidback. -Some cute dogs -Food -For all it is, at least WM isn’t boring.

Cons

-Turnover rivals that of Trump’s administration (yes, it’s really that bad). You might get cut any day. -Nepotism at its finest (hey candidates, don’t forget LendUp on your resume!) -Extremely low pay if you’re not mid-senior level. Company uses their “cool factor” to reel in applicants and pay them drastically below the market value. No raises, performance bonuses, or reviews. Company does not care about investing in or training employees but rather sees us as disposable objects. Your work will never be rewarded. -ZERO transparency in how the company is doing. You even get reprimanded for sharing information internally. -They pay for employees’ silence (that’s why their rating hasn’t plummeted yet). This is a place where HR has quit because of how mgmt treats people… -Look beneath the surface, there are people strategically throwing others under the bus for their own survival. -Having WM on your resume makes your job search more challenging :/ To potential applicants: if you love marijuana THAT much (ie. smoke everyday, can’t live without it), by all means, enjoy the short roller coaster ride that is Weedmaps. However, I tell all my curious friends in the tech industry to avoid Weedmaps like the plague.

Pros

- Some good teammates - Occasional interesting things to work on - 401k match (but no company stock incentives/ownership options)

Cons

- Executives that only care about $, but won't tell you how much money the company makes during the few all hands they hold because you can't be trusted - Mistrust is rampant and throwing people under the bus is a common practice. - Management is worried about losing their own jobs more than taking care of their employees and treating them right. - Developers are treated as a "resource" that costs the company money. - Be ready to be low man on the totem pole no matter how good the work is that you do: seniority rules - This is a 100% technology based product without a CTO. - Ideas/new features come only from product teams with deadlines not attached to actual estimates.
