A Lesson in How to Drive Away Good Employees

Pros

Working along-side hard working peers. It’s sad to see the sparkle slip from some eyes though, as time progresses.

Cons

If you’ve read the Weinstein Properties website, you might be impressed by the promises of a “collaborative culture,” “work should be fun”, “career development,” and “valuing team members.” Unfortunately, those are little more than marketing slogans. The day-to-day reality is far from the image painted online. Upper management operates with a top-down mentality that discourages feedback, disregards employee well-being, and ignores the insights of on-site managers and supervisors.. the very people doing the heavy lifting. Rather than fostering growth or recognizing talent, leadership in the Nashville region tends to micromanage, gaslight, or even push out strong performers who voice concerns, open up (after being practically begged by leadership to do so), or offer constructive ideas. Support from corporate is inconsistent at best, nonexistent at worst. Initiatives that are launched with fanfare often die quietly due to lack of follow-through from local leadership or quite frankly any interest from leadership. All of your “earned lunches”, will never actually be provided. Promises of advancement are rarely fulfilled unless you’re part of the inner circle and bow down to majesty and even then, decisions seem arbitrary. Turnover is extremely high, morale is at an all time low since coming under new leadership in the region and the “family culture” that's marketed on the website is nowhere to be found once you’re inside the organization. It's as if upper management has taken a page straight out of How to Drive Away Good Employees—and they’re reading it cover to cover If you’re looking for a long-term, supportive career in property management, you’ll want to keep looking. This isn't the place and there are many proactive companies out there that value their teams. Remember, joining wp means losing your voice. Don’t speak up, they’ll weaponize your words against you.

Pros

Hourly pay is alright I guess

Cons

If I could rate it less than 1 star, I would. Because unless you’re literally perfect and never miss a single day regardless if it is out of your control or not, do not waste your time. The company promises training, but then gives you maybe 1 hr a week to properly train over a Teams call over a course of a month or 2 and says the rest of the job is “On the Job training”, but then the office is so busy you don’t have time to properly train “on the job” because nobody is able to train you on anything. They say you can take notes, but frown upon it because they expect you to learn without having to write notes down. They say they give you a 90day period to “train” but if you don’t know everything before the 90 days you’re terminated. They do not care if you have a good personality or customer service even though it’s a core part of leasing. They only want perfection which is why their retention rate is bad because it’s an unrealistic standard to set and without a company actually investing in good quality training, they’re losing great workers. They monitor your emails, phone calls, and look/lease conversions and it’s extremely corporate heavy. Not only that, but you have to communicate everything with the utmost professionalism and they’re sticklers about it. Meanwhile, the residents are upset about things that do not work around the complex, that have nothing to do with communication so you would think they would invest more time in making sure their employees have a proper structure to their training when it comes to processing tasks for residents/prospects rather than how strong your vernacular is in an email or community note or how fast you can inspect an apartment that has over 10+ issues. And never miss a day because even if you have a legitimate excuse, you will get in trouble anyway and they will say you’re unreliable. This company is full of robots so if you’re a robot who learns at a lightning fast pace, you will have so much fun here! The schedule also doesn’t really allow a work/life balance bc the office opens later and closes at 6, and you don’t know if you have to work a Saturday or not until a couple days prior since they rotate Saturdays based on how many tours are booked.
