Pros

Oepend to low income patients.

Cons

Executive Leaders do not support Managers. It is said employees are all replaceable. The CFO bullies people and creates a hostile work environment and ELT pretends it doesn't occur and allows it to happen. Other Directors are allowed to bully, gossip and complain about people in leadership roles and those Managers are singled out and treated poorly. ELT rattles off team principals but does not come close to following them. There's a huge lack of support from top down. They have lost great Leaders due to lack of support and unwillingness to make the changes necessary. NON-competitive Pay, lack of incentives, no annual raises, lack of employee engagement. Will work you to death without anything in return. Upon leaving, no one showed up for my scheduled exit interview.

Pros

- Servicing low-income families and the community can be rewarding. - Colleagues are often understanding of your experience as there is a common thread amongst direct-service staff and their experiences. - The ability to say that you work for an FQHC, can get you established at another hospital or clinic in the future.

Cons

- Administration seems disconnected from direct-service staff. Administration makes a decent income while direct-service staff are given minimal incentive. - Departments are not connected well. Medical does not connect with mental health and vice-versa. Lack of a holistic approach. - As a mental health clinician your caseload could sometimes reach about 36+ (with the expectation of regular therapy, case management, advocacy, etc. for each client/family on your caseload).
