Pros

Great location, Kalamazoo has a lot to offer, very active community with a lot of fun things going on. The University has a med school and a law school associated with it, so they're up and coming. Many of the employees have been here a very long time, so there's a lot of loyalty, and many people that work here graduated from here.

Cons

The pay scale tends to be pretty low compared to other similar places, the administration doesn't see this as an issue and there has been some contention about it in recent years. They seem more focused on PR than on what's actually happening on campus.

Pros

- Flexible hours, able to work around class schedule - Easy to get someone to cover your shift if you cannot work - Other student co-workers great to work with - Job looks great on a resume especially if you are a Criminal Justice major

Cons

- Sworn personnel (police officers and sergeants) act like they are better than you and try to take advantage of you - Most full time staff and sworn personnel do not recognize that you are also an employee of their department even though you work equally as hard as they do - Full time staff and sworn personnel will also talk about you behind your back and spread false rumors about you. - Overall felt that the department does not care about their student employees (along with other students at the university) and view you as low class
