Grreat Benefits - Not so good leadership

Pros

Independency on work, people are great. Students are fantastic. Excellent benefits, low cost medical insurance.

Cons

Poor leadership, professors do not tend to help each other, department chairs are more administrators than leaders.

free tuition as employees, good health insurance

Cons

poor decisions by leadership, made to make those making decisions look good but not benefit the university as a whole. Financially struggling despite public appearance, credit is maxed out, little money coming from state. No strategic reductions just across the board "to be fair". Lay offs occurred at many levels but not strategic. Why lay off a part-time instructor costing $3K but bringing in $40K of tuition? Willing to support athletics for $20M a year but lay-off faculty and staff that actually work with students.

The weather is sometimes nice in April.

Cons

I never started taking anti-depressants until after working here. Same for drinking. Same for crying myself to sleep every night. Administrators are the rich aristocrats who make it a point to beat down the faculty for any and every reason. This place will kill me - hopefully earlier rather than later.
