Pros

They have a new shiny building they pay a lot of money for. Which is why you shouldn't expect to get paid much.

Cons

They do not pay competitively, although they state that they do. They do not give raises or inflation adjustments. There is no flexible time or work life balance, and expect you to work "Casual Overtime" frequently. You will not gain much technical experience here, as they don't know what they are doing and farm most of the real technical work out to other companies. Their business is failing and they will probably be having massive layoffs in the near future. Their is a very poor ethics and safety culture here and they definitely use retaliation tactics so beware.

Much Happier After Leaving!

Pros

Well established company in the nuclear industry that has value added being the OEM for many nuclear plants worldwide. Able to attain a lot of business by having a large amount of historical data that plants rely on. Alternate work schedules, competitive benefits and pay, good experience for somebody starting in the nuclear industry.

Cons

After leaving Westinghouse to work for another company in the nuclear industry, I have come to understand how depressing my later years with Westinghouse had become. Employee morale had hit an all-time low, pay freezes and diminishing benefits, and worst of all, seemingly no control over your career and growth as an engineer in the nuclear industry. Since working for another nuclear company for 9 months, I have expanded my knowledge ten-fold and have gained valuable experience throughout many technical areas of the industry. I feel like a direct contributor to the success of the company and I have full control over my career path. Also, I've felt like an engineer again. I've opened numerous books searching for applicable equations to solve problems that need to be solved. What a concept!

Not getting better

Pros

The paychecks clear, the lights are on, potential to change with new owners (hopefully!), Industry leading company (for now at least)

Cons

Management at this company is terrible. The employer morale could not be any lower. Every person I work with is looking to leave as soon as they can. The new COO is a joke. He spent half his introductory talk about himself and how hard it was for him to decide to stay at Westinghouse. Turns out he's getting paid over $2m a year. Tough choice right? So what does the COO do? Reorganize! They spent the past 4 years telling us how the new org layout is for the best. Now it's crappy and didn't work.
