Who Killed Westinghouse – Part II?
Pros
I worked with some very nice and talented people there over the years. Media reports suggest that Danny Roderick's days may be numbered and that he may resign soon.
Cons
Most of the nice and talented people are gone. Outsiders from competitors like GE and AREVA, and others from unrelated industries, including U.S. Steel and PNC, who are clueless about nuclear, were brought in to run things and get rid of the experienced Westinghouse people. A bunch of bullies, including CEO Danny. Just like in the old days, including the rampant nepotism, and cutting from the bottom and building up the top. Westinghouse got a second chance with the AP1000 design but sure screwed that up by again putting the wrong people in management positions. Too bad for the hard and talented workers under them, although there were quite a few slackers too. Those were the ones who got promoted. Go figure. Nuclear renaissance? Don’t think so as reports are the company may get out of the new nuclear plant business. Think they should since they don’t know what they are doing, at least current management anyway.
