Pros

Nice cafeteria and gym if you have time to enjoy them.

Cons

We are lectured on how to walk down stairs, how to always tie shoes, and to always be safe..in a cubicle office environment.. and it is called paying attention to nuclear safety. Must wear safety glasses when in a lab doing software programming on a pic because we can never be "too safe". At the same time, mandatory OT in excess including all Saturday is turning employees into zombies. Management rewards employees who have sacrificed days of weekends and holidays with a token presented at a meeting and a 25 dollar gift certificate.

Pros

Good pay. The work is easy. No thought or effort is required. The food in the cafeteria isn't bad.

Cons

You will not gain any experience that is of any value. Projects drag out forever because the people who have the authority to direct resources do not trouble themselves to do so. They are perfectly happy to let the company swirl right down the drain while they pad their pensions. Most of the "engineers" here do not do any real engineering work. There is an endless amount of document revision. The work is meaningless, boring, and irrelevant. Consider yourself warned - other employers in the Pittsburgh area are aware that WEC employees are way overpaid and underskilled. You will have to work hard to get the stink of Westinghouse off of you.

Pros

The work is interesting and the salary is competitive to start!

Cons

- Upper management doesn't care about employees and puts blame on them. Even though upper management is what led us to bankruptcy - No promotions and few raises. Multiple individuals were submitted for a promotion and it got all the approvals but sat in HR with no end in site - ZERO work life balance. You are on vacation? Who cares you get phone calls. You are sick? Who cares you get phone calls. - All the good people are gone! Since bankruptcy all the top employees have jumped ship. And there hasn't been any replacements for them in multiple groups. Some groups have lost 5+ employees and there has been no replacements. - Reorganization. With the new owner we have seen a lot of reorg within the organization and its not for the best. Groups have been combined and removed unnecessarily and top managers have gone from managing 30+ people to managing 3. Why aren't you supporting your top managers? - Layoffs and more layoffs. Just when you think the layoffs are over, they come back a month or two later. Avoid at all cost. It seems like they are dwindling the business until its only nuclear refueling and they will outsource everything else. Your job might be gone in 2-5 years.
