1. Management is viciously incompetent. Every single mechanic and associate in this place knows more than every supervisor. The place is run by a revolving community of condescending, ignorant, inexperienced morons who would rather you mess up while they pretend they're busy instead of admitting they don't know. They walk away while you're talking and if you're lucky, they'll defer to someone else. How are NON-mechanics running a warehouse of... MECHANICS?
2. HAZARDOUS work environment. The warehouse is NOT OSHA compliant. There have been multiple FIRES in the warehouse due to an incompetent employee drilling into a battery, and there are few small signs about evacuation, plus we were never trained on procedure. We were also LIED to about the air quality being safe, though 80% of the workers left the place that day and evening. You could smell the fumes for 2 days. Even for a makeshift warehouse, this place is terribly unsafe. It is constantly a mess, and we've had guys get (omitted physical injury for anonymity) due to a particular (omitted) protocol that everyone has to follow. The list goes on, honestly.
3. PARKING, Time Cards and Attendance + Location
This place is far off the street, and there is ZERO parking onsite. Can you believe that? Only supervisors can use the spaces, so you have 2 options. Either park on a residential street or in the Metro garage, which also costs money. Coupled with the fact that the attendance policy is very vague (they have a convoluted point system that isn't posted ANYWHERE), you're going to be more than 4 minutes late some days in this traffic unless you're prepared to give your life to these people. There's also no accountability for how points are recorded, so a supervisor could just dislike you, say you're at 3 points and use it as justification to fire you. Did I mention that you won't actually be working for the company, but for a 3rd Party? This means they can fire you without even speaking to you, you'll just get a call from this 3rd party saying don't come back.
4. PRESSURE vs MORALITY
I've been asked to send bikes out that were NOT ok to ride. That's not a big deal to some people, but as a mechanic, it's kind of frustrating. You have a QUOTA where everyone puts the amount of bikes they've "fixed" on a very public board. You might be asked to do other things like unload a truck, help the check-in guys roll bikes in, etc, but you'd better hit those numbers!
5. TOOLS
Not talking about the management this time, though it applies. You will never have the tools you need. There will always be things missing and you will constantly be walking around this large place looking for things like bits, screws, drills, etc. It's a mess and again, the supervisors are incompetent. You'll just get a shrug and an unconcerned "see if it's in the battery cage", where you'll have to ding a bell because the guys back there are doing other things and they're constantly understaffed.
6. ATMOSPHERE
The employees are cool, but the supervisor blasts LOUD TRAP RAP music off of a large, cheap speaker 24/7. If you don't like Kodak Black and Cardi B at 7 AM, good luck surviving here. NO HEADPHONES, NO EARBUDS allowed, so you can't even tune it out. This place is so far from everything that you can't even go offsite for your 2 short 10 minute breaks or your 30 minute lunch. There are days where there isn't even any water, cups, or soap in the bathroom.
