Pros

Overtime available, holiday pay is lenient, partially paid lunches

Cons

Management and HR pick favorites and let harassment and slander go if you aren’t a favorite. Personal information gets spread and covered up by both management and HR to people that have no business knowing it, violating company policies. Everybody is super nosey and spreads false rumors that management will take to heart and use against you.

Not a good choice

Pros

Work with many good non-management people.

Cons

2020 - No pay raise, No hazard Pay, No pandemic work bonus. Worked thru pandemic and told we can't use our earned PTO for a time. And withheld our annual small earnings bonus right when everyone needed it most. All this was not just for me. This applied to all of us. 2021 - 2% increase. Going back several years these tiny increases add up to a huge paycut with inflation at 5 -6%. Williams is losing people quickly this year. With so many good jobs out there, this is very predictable. P.S. If you are not an Engineer, you will not have any path for promotion at all. You will retire as just another general employee. If you are an Engineer, you will have many promotion opportunities. I don't know how Williams was before it grew and built the new HQ a few years ago, but I have heard from many others it was much better than now. And seems to be getting worse rapidly. I do not recommend. There are much better choices for Engineers, Machinists, Technicians.

Pros

Exposure to aircraft jet components but that’s all.

Cons

The first thing you will notice fresh out of the gate is the way you are treated by the management and coworkers. The management and engineering staff treat you like you are below them and are an idiot. Your coworkers are aloof to your presence because they don’t invest any time getting to know you because they know you will be gone later. Your employment title that you interviewed for will not encompass what you will be told to do because you will be bounced around to other departments and made to do ten times the work for which you agreed to be compensated. As in my example I was hired as a Deburr Hand but I also had to: 1) do metal surface finishing for stamping dies. 2) prying up part tabs to loosen hex nuts. 3) replacing said nuts and hammering down said part tabs. 4) part straightening. 5) leak testing of welded tube assemblies. 6) laser marking for part identification. 7) hand metal forming to aid parts to fit dies and/or gages. 8) disassembling parts to be worked on outside. 9) reassembling said same parts. 10) ordering work area supplies. 11) sizing parts and/or removing wrinkles from part material. When you start your shift and check the the “need by” date on work orders to determine what parts to work on first, the management will invariably come by later and make you work on something completely different. What ends up happening is the work orders that should’ve been finished first begin to back up. At the same though you are scolded to follow the work order planning and on occasion have to sign documents saying that you will comply. But then you are made to take shortcuts in order to meet production quotas. During any production or interpersonal discrepancies, if you are not family or friends with the anyone at Williams, especially management, then you will be castigated and covertly treated badly. Their go-to policy is the family and friends plan for benevolent treatment or in-house promotions. There is zero communication. Zero. Safety concerns for Williams employees is lacking. One time the entire Walled Lake facility lost electric power causing a work stoppage. As the maintenance crew walked by I heard one of them say to the other one that the fire suppression system was down and if there was a fire anywhere they would not be able to put it out. At no time did the management advise us on what was happening or to send us home because of the unsafe work environment. The management was too concerned at that time with some parts that were in the heat treat oven and did not implement any kind of evacuation plan. Things I personally witnessed: 1) the management will routinely threaten to fire you. 2) the management routinely talks badly about team members. 3) the management is routinely sarcastic to team members. 4) if you have a life-long career skill set that can be utilized in another department and desire a promotion you will be overlooked in favor of youth. 5) production metrics are unrealistic and written by engineering staff that have never performed the tasks for which they created the production time requirements. 6) management will take workers from your department and send them to work in another department to alleviate a production bottleneck there but in turn causing a bottleneck in your department. 7) on multiple occasions I witnessed workers working on parts without affixing their quality stamp on the work order planning. 8) on multiple occasions I witnessed parts get rushed through to final inspection by the management even though quality discrepancies were made known which ultimately leaves you holding the bag because you have to affix your quality stamp to the work order and management doesn’t. 9) on multiple occasions I witnessed other workers working on part of a work order intentionally not putting on their quality stamp because they did crappy workmanship leaving you holding the bag because after you work on and complete the other part of the order you must affix your quality stamp.
