Working for this company was such a learning experience for me. I know there are some bad reviews, but be sure to check out what I have to say before deciding to work here to get an unbiased feel!
1. The CEO of the company really likes to show his appreciation for his staff with quarterly bonuses! They used to do monthly bonuses that were based on your individual performance, but then they changed it to quarterly bonuses that are based on the teams performance. What my bonus is quarterly is a third of what I was receiving monthly. Thank you Wisenbaker! I feel super appreciated as an employee when my bonus no longer depends on my performance, which I can control, and now depends on the performance of all of my team members, which I can't control! The most rewarding part was that your bonus usually came about a month after they told you you would have it. It was fun waking up every Friday and checking my bank account to see if my bonus had been deposited and then thinking, "Oh well! Maybe next Friday!" Positivity is key when working for Wisenbaker!
2. The best thing about Wisenbaker is that they take pride in encouraging Christian values. An email is sent out every week or so talking about Christian values and how to use them in the workplace. It's especially sweet when they don't just make Good Friday a work day, but they make it a company wide cleaning day! Gift cards are awarded to the team that cleans up the office the most and lunch is provided. What a great way to honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by coming into work and cleaning for the day while your loved ones are at home or attending church!
3. This company likes to celebrate the end of every quarter by laying off up to a third of your team! It's always fun to bet with your coworkers on who is going to stay and who is going to leave. My favorite part is having my work double every quarter and getting no further compensation! Thank you Wisenbaker for making me an extremely resilient employee!
4. I was so thankful to find out that my sick days, personal days, and PTO days were lumped into one sum of 10 days total for your first two years! You can use 5 days your first year and then 5 days your second year. It forced me to hold off on any vacation my first year of working here, which saved me money! Thank you Wisenbaker for reminding me that work comes first!
5. Wisenbaker only hires leadership from within. I know what a great opportunity that was when I started and I got to see many of my coworkers move up the ladder! Fortunately, this saves the Wisenbakers money because if they hire from within, they don't have to pay managers as much as hiring someone from outside the company. I really appreciate that the same values and leadership styles stay the same regardless of the manager. It really ensures that the company culture NEVER changes and that all things are handled the same, no matter how bad they are!
6. Oh and the benefits are just great! When my husband lost his job, it was super helpful that I could add him to my insurance for ONLY $500 extra a month! What a deal!
7. Now I can't leave a review without mentioning what everyone is dying to know- how great the office looks! I was astounded by the decor of the Houston Corporate office. Working for a home building company really pays off! The red and brown carpets, mismatched back splash and granite tops, and the subtle feeling of working in a dungeon were enough to make me realize how great the Wisenbaker taste is! To top it off, I was greeted with the smell of human excrement almost every single day! Having an entire warehouse of guys and installers use the same bathroom all day long was enough to curb my appetite for lunch. I especially loved seeing the sewage truck sitting outside the back door on my way in from my lunch break almost every day to clear the clogged pipes again. Who needs a diet when you have a poopy smelling work place- LITERALLY! ;)
8. This job may not be glamorous, but it will make you a better employee. If you can work here, you can work anywhere! Thank you Wisenbaker for showing me what Corporate American is all about!
