Pros

- Culture is generally professional and supportive - Pay and benefits decent (not extravagant)

Cons

- Work-life balance difficult for highly-skilled employees - Penny-pinching in support areas (IT, etc.) - Desire to incorporate offshoring hurts employees in developed nations - Bad corporate decisions (such as overruns on firm fixed price contracts signed years ago) have weighed down good parts of the company - Big corporate moves (mergers, divestment) every few years

Pros

Might be nice to work if you're white

Cons

Subjected to verbal homophobic abuse Subjected to racist stereotyping Told that disabled people do not deserve to work in this industry by manager Exploited to do higher levels of physical labor because of my race and economic status Unsafe work conditions, managers do not understand chemical safety Managers often broke the law and did things that put worker and public health and safety in danger

Pros

Can't think of any pros, the company was in turmoil. Big acquisition of a money-losing business. Disorganized company with too many divisions and too many layers.

Cons

They pushed employees to buy stock. The stock value sank about 80% in two years. The Amec acquisition was a disaster.
