Practice What You Preach

Pros

Option to work from home, continuing education reimbursement, gym reimbursement, pet insurance, happy hours with lots of alcohol

Cons

Woolpert's HR and upper management do not practice what they preach. Since being acquired by MSD, it has become a toxic culture of numbers. They've lost sight of the key contributor that got them where they are, the employee. HR and upper management say all the right things; be a personal, relational and contextual manager yet they don't actually follow through. They preach about diversity and inclusion, yet there is very little in all management levels. They claim to promote a healthy work/life balance, yet you're frowned upon if you work less than 50 hours/week. They claim to respect and value their high performers, yet these are the employees leaving due to the change of culture. They pride themselves for receiving the Great Place to Work title, yet they essentially brainwash employees in meetings to rate it as such. HR/upper management have held meetings telling employees to leave positive reviews to counter the negative ones (notice all the "Great Place to Work" reviews). They even ask employees to space the reviews out so it's not obvious (look at dates of reviews). They claim to be consistent and fair in decision making yet there is clearly a "white boys club" (look at org chart). Finally, employee utilization is viewed as a currency...your worth to the company. However, project managers will limit the hours employees can charge to their projects. This, again, is all about numbers looking good for upper management at the expense of the employee's true effort. Woolpert used to be a family oriented, fun and exciting company to work for. Unfortunately, due to the MSD acquisition, focus on growth/profits and lack of employee appreciation, Woolpert's culture continues down a death spiral of toxicity.

Woolpert upper management, HR, and MSD are aligned in our focus on making Woolpert a great place to work for everyone. We work tirelessly to create a positive culture with exceptional benefits and programs for all employees and appreciate the positive feedback from most of our employees that we are a great place to work. Woolpert employees are strong-minded and intelligent and we welcome their decisions of how to improve our company. We are committed to continuous improvement with our diversity and inclusion, leadership training, project management training, work life balance, and overall culture. We have been very successful with creating a great place to work for the majority of our employees, and are working to improve this even more. We are serious about business, we are focused on high performance, and always strive to balance that with a supportive culture.

Pros

Look for Scott Cattran’s appearance on Fox News show, as they help him pick out a second vacation home. You will have a celebrity CEO! If you get offered the opportunity to buy stock, you’ve pretty much got a job for life; regardless of how incompetent you are.

Cons

The pros come at a cost to everyone else. Corruption, profits over people, and outsourcing led to severe staffing cuts in Englewood office. Fired people who spoke up about corruption.

We take any accusation of corruption seriously and thus will look into your concerns further. We remain confident and committed that Woolpert continues to operate under the highest ethical standards and seeks the best for all its employees and clients. Woolpert’s open door policy and channels for feedback via our insider threat policy, and employee engagement survey tools create opportunity for all employees to report concerns. Woolpert has enjoyed great success under our CEO. Under his leadership, Woolpert is one of the fastest growing companies in the AEC industry, and with that success we have provided our employees with consistent performance bonuses, doubled the number of owners in the firm with industry-leading shareholder returns, and expanded our benefits program. Consistent profitability has allowed us to do this, but never at the expense of our people – rather to the benefit of our people that in turn allow us to provide the very best services to our clients. We have been rated a great place to work (an anonymous survey) by our employees 6 years in a row and have industry leading Net Promoter Scores/ Customer satisfaction ratings.

Pros

Good rotational schedule for the most part. Management rarely interrupted your time off. Architectural and Engineering sectors of the company appear to be top notch.

Cons

Geospatial sector lacked proper organization and resources for support of major projects. Aircraft in absolute poor condition. Constantly placed in compromising positions to pencil whip unairworthy items.
