Dynamic Work Environment To Develop Skills, But Limited Career Path

A truly wonderful group of people to work with. Great personalities, intelligent, and proactive in most cases. Better product vision than most. From top to bottom AtTask is focused on making their product the best-in-class. As a company, AtTask is not content with mediocrity. The environment is not political, nor is it about passing blame and CYA's. When problems do arise, senior management tries to address it head on, with as much transparency as possible. I have always felt that AtTask treats its employees fairly in terms of compensation and bonuses. The compensation is so generous that it has dissuaded me from pursuing other opportunities in the past. Relaxed working environment. Dress code is built for comfort not conformity. The same is true of working hours. As long as you are getting the work done, you are given a lot of latitude in your work schedule. This same sentiment bleeds over into taking personal time off. I have rarely felt pressured into not taking my PTO.
Cons
Very strong Executive team that are all very capable and intelligent. Unfortunately this leads to a kind of alpha male mentality when it comes to decisions, product placement, criticism, etc. A lot of the time it is "My way or the highway." This tends to demoralize and dissuade otherwise bright and engaging employees from actively challenging the status quo, or promoting innovative ideas up the chain. Unless the idea comes from management, it often doesn't have a lot of momentum. VERY LITTLE room for career advancement possible. If AtTask is looking for management or senior level material, they do not look internally for potential candidates. AtTask has almost exclusively purchased talent. When hired at AtTask, you can expect to leave with essentially the same position you were hired in at. Limited opportunity to invest in AtTask's long term future because there are no stock options to be had or shared. If there were options at one time, they are no longer available. They are no current plans to give out another round of options in the near future.
