      Formerly great company being gutted by the executive staff who are wringing every last cent of life from it

      Pros

      Some great people working at Xilinx, especially those who have been there a long time. The work-life balance is reasonable with managers not overly burdening staff. The salaries are average.

      Cons

      The company is currently in the process of moving most of its jobs to lower cost economies in Asia. The spectre of layoffs is real and a sense of impending doom hangs over every employee in North America and Europe. It is a dark environment with much distrust, fear and anger.

      The implosion has begun

      Pros

      Very nice, well meaning people.

      Cons

      With the departure of CFO Lorenzo Flores, the implosion has begun. Good products but pace is unsustainable and unfortunately there are serious misjudgments by management. The motto is “the ends justify the means” and no one is willing to make the hard decisions. There is a level of incompetence in some key positions that “working harder” won’t fix. Things will continue to get worse from here.

      Pros

      Used to have great work life balance and stability until the recent CEO changes.

      Cons

      - Round of restructuring removed people that have been loyal to the company for 20 years - Brought in new leadership that left after a month in the position, leaving the teams in limbo - Very old school company: internal processes with HR and recruiting is ridiculously slow. - Big boys club. Almost all leadership are white males.
