Pros

Morally Bankrupting type of environment.

Cons

Never in my years have I seen such blatant disregard for the truth. The "algorithm" is flawed and hurting small business nation wide. Told to hush up about "the little people" and that the "algorithm" was not to be changed. You will be asked to fight "flagged reviews", in order to leave them on people's accounts, regardless of truth. I have never seen a business refuse to remove information that is being asked to be removed, either via email or lawsuit. What yelp stands for is what's wrong in the world. I'm sorry but a review from years ago should not be relevant, and the fact they can't upgrade the "algorithm" is BS. I programmed a solution to remove bad reviews after 1 year, and was promptly fired. (Don't go above and beyond at this job, clearly.) Fun fact, YELP in fact DOES charge to remove bad reviews, via Cold Calling from their sales staff. Shady Shady Shady. I feel dirty working for such an irresponsible company who blatantly disregards requests from struggling business owners.

Pros

Sales to local businesses is very challenging, however it's really rewarding. Yelp's advertising product is great and knowing that you can help a small business owner compete in their market and connect with their local community is totally worth it. I also loved the hands on approach to training and development. I've worked at other jobs where they give you packets and videos and expect you to learn from those materials. At Yelp they trained and helped me through 10's of different avenues.

Cons

I wish there was a less expensive package to sell businesses. Sometimes $$ can be tight and you want to help them somehow. Guess that's what the free products are for.

Pros

This is a remote job which you could consider a positive. However the management team with track you on every single thing you do. They are monitoring how much you call and when. For example if you don't make a calls back to back within 2min your manager will talk to you. They will ask why you have a gap between 11:00- 11:05 and a gap between 11:20 and 11:26. This goes down to the minute. In my first month of training my first manager was fired. Then two associates were fired. Finally almost everyone in my small training class quite. There is very little PTO starting off at only a week. Do not work here.

Cons

The customers despise yelp with a passion. I have never worked in a company where the customers hate you so much just for working with them. The customer base has a more negative view of Yelp sales people than car sales people and furniture salesman. I was constantly yelled at everyday over the phone. The management team is completely aware. However because they moved away from the cold calling they could care less. There is a possibility to make six figures, yes, like any sales job. However yelp top sales reps act just like a scammer over the phone. They will spend over an hour coaxing small business owners into a $300 a month payment that will not make them money. Do not just take my word for it. There is a whole documentary on how bad this company is called "Billion Dollar Bully". Business owners have no choice to be on the Yelp platform. Anyone literally anyone can make a yelp page for the business owner and there is no way to remove them.
