Pros

Good dev team, with some skilled team members. The company used to provide free breakfast for the developers. Potential to grow the product and become the market leader with improvements in the upper management for the dev team.

Cons

A lot if micromanagement on the dev side even though management works remotely. Management is really out of touch with the product and the team. Unfortunately, a lot of racial tension (dev upper management hasn’t heard of title VII). After acquiring a new company, every minority developer left within 3 months of the acquisition. Project managers not far behind. If you are a minority, don’t even try to take a day off to go to the doctor, you will end up with 30 emails demanding you come back in to work. Or maybe management will ask one of the other devs to keep an eye on you and report back to make sure you are actually working. Either way, if you are brown, run fast. You’ll probably get paid more somewhere else anyway.

Pros

The company seemed like a great place to work!

Cons

They sent me a job offer, I negotiated the salary and before my start they retracted the job offer after I declined other jobs to accept that one!

The Emperor's New Clothes (ever heard of it?)

Pros

Some good people who work hard with what they're given. Unfortunately, they're not put in a position by management to succeed.

Cons

It's no secret the product doesn't work as expected, the customers dislike the product because it is unstable and some of the product's "capabilities" aren't as sold (really manual efforts done behind the scenes and open to error). Engineering spends most of their time fixing "bugs", not making better product. Engineering closes too many bug tickets without fixing, saying the product is working as designed (but the design doesn't work for the customers). Executives (particularly the CEO) are disengaged, unaware, or just intentionally ignorant. CTO is in an ivory tower and can't be objective (too emotional/ defensive when told of issues with the product). Many execs live out of state while their teams are in NC, leaderless. Sr execs always look for others to blame outside the CEO Boys Club, don't have the backs of their employees and live by an attitude that other companies "hire too fast and fire too slow". (That says about all you need to know about this management style.) HR is totally powerless as sr execs overrun it all the time (HR is ceremonial position at best here, so don't bother going to them).
