Compared to other tech companies, you'll spend a lot more time dealing with messy people data. That's not a con for me, but is a con for others

We've definitely found that personal development, particularly skill development, is highly valued by our analytic teams given the fast pace of tech and methodological change. While we do a lot of such development already in a variety of ways (tech reviews, paper reads, learning academies, focused training on Spark/Python, hackweeks, leadership/mgr training, etc.), we'll be doing even more in 2019 and beyond (as you've probably heard via our team meetings). I'm not entirely sure of what the "messy people data" that you refer is, but please let me know if something is messier than it should be or if there's a better way to be tackling problems in your particular area here at Zillow. My experience at Zillow Group has been one of the best! It's great to be part of a company that's mission driven, innovative, and cares about the employees. I truly enjoy the transparency leadership offers and an environment that promotes collaborative teamwork!

Great people and platform. Not as intense as Amazon

Cons

Zillow has a start up feel but are too big to be one so things are moving slower then they were 4 years ago. Zillow is an advertising company and is learning on how to build tech products. Not the best content platform

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that we have great people and our platforms are allowing us to deliver great products to our customers. We have indeed grown in size a lot over the last 4 years and it does become challenging to communicate and ship products quickly. That said, I am pleased with the transparency and communication we have throughout the company. Our decision to structure our product and engineering teams in small teams with clear ownership of their product roadmap and backlog (with appropriate senior leadership review and oversight) is serving us well.
