Pros

Talented, hardworking coworkers who genuinely care Some strong frontline and mid-level managers doing their best in a broken system Well-known brand that can help your resume early on Opportunities to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment

Cons

If you’re looking for a workplace built on low morale, chronic stress, shifting expectations, and leadership that refuses to take accountability, Zillow may be the place for you. Do you want to have your workload doubled, or even tripled, while your pay remains the same or decreases? Zillow might be the place for you. Do you value incompetent senior leadership from the GM level and up? Zillow might be the place for you. Do you want to see teammates break down in tears on Zoom meetings after yet another avoidable misstep by senior leadership? Zillow might be the place for you. Over time, the once-great culture has deteriorated into one driven by fear and uncertainty. Performance standards change without warning. Communication from senior leadership is inconsistent and filled with gaslighting. Employees are routinely left questioning their own reality after being told one thing and evaluated on another. Executives appear disconnected from day-to-day realities, while frontline employees are expected to absorb the pressure. Layoffs are handled with little transparency, often done quietly and disguised as “performance terminations” affecting hundreds of employees at once, with little to no warning. Instead of investing in people, the company relies on constant restructuring, unrealistic goals, and fear-based management to maintain control. Burnout is normalized. Loyalty is not rewarded. Speaking up is discouraged. If you value stability, honest leadership, mental health, and professional growth, I cannot strongly enough recommend looking anywhere else. Toxic, fear-based leadership culture from the top down Chronic burnout and unrealistic workloads Constant shifting expectations and moving goalposts Poor communication and widespread gaslighting Layoffs disguised as “performance” terminations Little respect or protection for long-tenured employees Lack of transparency around strategy and decisions Morale rapidly declining year over year

Pros

-Real estate is far from a great experience so lots of opportunity to improve it. -Used to have an amazing culture, and some people that were there likely pre-2023, still drive some of the culture. Don't take my word, in 2018 Zillow had a 4.4 reviews rating, now in 2025 is down to 3.5 in Glassdoor.

Cons

-Lots of cover you ax culture, and director+ managing by optics. -weird vibe lately with increased number of silent layoffs, communicated as the individual has decided to move us. -in some product team, expectations have significantly increased, yet pay has not increased. Some backfills are replaced with less senior roles, but with the same expectation. I guess that is easier way of indirectly lowering pay. Lots of backfills going to MX too.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your perspective matters and we appreciate you sharing it. It’s disappointing to hear that your experience doesn't reflect the culture we aim to create; and conversations around pay are deeply personal and we respect your perspective. If you're open to continuing the conversation, we’d value hearing more at careers@zillowgroup.com. Or, you may report your concerns anonymously through AllVoices.

Pros

actual sales conversations are great, worked directly with agents with are decision makers, commission structure is good

Cons

expectations change on a whim, they also delete them from the resource book so they can quite literally be holding you accountable to rules that dont exist anymore, the same rules dont apply to everyone, leadership has no idea what they are doing and put blame back on reps for their failures, they claim that being clear and open "turning on the lights" is a core value but they leave everyone in the dark and use very vague language when giving updates/expectations just to use them against us, have known SEVERAL people hired and fired within 6 months due to lack of support, proper onboarding, and changing of expectations, hr is a nightmare and basically said "be grateful we didnt fire you (a new hire) sooner and gave you a chance" - not sure why they hired us in the first place. no organization or system to help teach their process or resource so you have to ask other coworkers how to do literally anything (and the rules constantly change, even managers dont have an idea). knew SEVERAL people who got severally physically sick from the stress and literally had to take medical leaves within a few months of starting. absolute shame because they used to have a great reputation and employees from 3+ yrs ago talk about how great of a work environment it USED TO BE
