Pros

All the pros are ending, From remote to RTO, Workation now often limits people from working in their home country.

Cons

They don't really care about people, although they say it all the time. Decisions are not made by the exec team and the rest needs to follow and live with making everyone believe it's for the best. So many great people have left already and it's just downhill now.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. We fully understand that feedback like this often comes from a place of wanting things to be better, so we take that seriously. That said, some clarifying context is necessary here. First, commercetools has always been a hybrid company with a mix of fully remote colleagues (about half of our workforce today) and office-based teams. What is new this year is requiring those near a hub to go in three days a week. That can feel like a big change if you operated remotely prior, but we gave several months’ notice so parents and caregivers could plan ahead. We also closed a few smaller, underused offices and reinvested in larger hubs based on employee input. Workation is still one of our most unique benefits, and any limits we’ve introduced are tied to practical realities like tax laws, security, and geopolitics — not a lack of interest in flexibility. When it comes to decision-making, our leadership and board work together. This is not uncommon for any business with investors. We’ve been intentional about making our collaborative process and their perspective about our business more transparent. Earlier this year, for example, we had a board member to speak directly with employees about our growth and direction. That kind of transparency isn’t common, and it’s something we’re very proud of. Trust can feel tested during times of change. That’s why we keep asking for feedback whether in company-wide communications, post-meeting surveys, or through anonymous channels. In fact, several changes and benefits have come from employee feedback. The opportunity is there for people to meet it, and we will continue to invite you to do so.

Thanks for sharing your experience, especially so early in your time here. It’s encouraging to hear that the support from your teammates, the innovative environment, and our benefits have made a positive first impression. On the return to office: commercetools has always been a hybrid company. Our shift to a three-day cadence in hubs wasn’t about reversing that, but rather a response to feedback from employees who were feeling disconnected. We know this change can feel at odds with a previously more remote rhythm, and we’re continuing to learn and adapt as we go. As for your comment on vision, we hear you. While we have a clear strategy in place, we know that how it's communicated internally matters just as much. If you're open to sharing more, we’d really appreciate your input via our Telescope surveys, People Business Partners, or any of the forums we use to keep listening and improving. Appreciate you taking the time to speak up.

Pros

commercetools is a truly exciting and rewarding place to work, especially if you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced tech environment. And there is a genuine commitment to our people and culture. - Strong, Evolving Culture: There's a real emphasis on living our values and fostering a culture of trust, empathy, and collaboration. - Impactful Work & Growth: The work is consistently challenging and meaningful. You're empowered to drive strategic initiatives that genuinely shape the business and contribute to our growth. There are many opportunities for personal and professional development, and the company truly invests in upskilling talent. - Agile: The agile environment encourages proactive problem-solving and creative solutions. - Supportive Leadership: I've found leadership to be highly engaged and supportive, genuinely caring about employee well-being (WLB mainly) and development.

Cons

Sometimes the pace can be intense. The continuous evolution means there's constant change, which requires a high degree of adaptability and resilience. Maintaining consistent communication across all levels during rapid scaling is an ongoing focus.
