Pros

If you need to learn how to do a million things at once with no executive buy-in, support or direction.. come on down.

Cons

Literally everything. They are flying as they build the plane. Different executive priorities every week that change. Leadership is insanely toxic and always OOO.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback. We operate in a fast-moving industry, and commercetools is in a unique phase of growth — not a scrappy 10-person startup, but not a 25,000-person public company either. That means we look for people who are ambitious, curious, and comfortable navigating ambiguity as we scale. It’s not always easy, but for those who thrive in change and seek impact, it can be incredibly rewarding. “Adapt Boldly” is one of our core values for a reason. That said, we know that clarity and alignment matter. We set and communicate company priorities annually between Q4 and Q1, and we stay connected through monthly All Hands, AMAs, and company-wide updates. Priorities may shift slightly to stay aligned with customer needs and market realities, but our long-term direction remains clear: to build the most versatile commerce platform for today and tomorrow. We’re committed to fostering a culture where people feel supported and included and feedback like yours helps us keep improving.

We appreciate your candid feedback and your recognition of the autonomy and great teammates that help define our culture. We’ve always embraced hybrid work, with some colleagues fully remote and others near offices. In response to employee feedback and changing business needs, we made the decision to focus future hiring around our hub locations. This shift is designed to strengthen the culture we’ve built by enabling in-person visibility and learning opportunities (especially for early-career team members) while still supporting the autonomy that helps people get meaningful work done. We know change isn’t easy, which is why we gave employees 4–9 months' advance notice to plan around this transition. And we’re investing in our hubs to ensure they support the evolving needs of our teams. Your voice matters as we shape what’s next. Please continue to share your insights with your manager, People Business Partner, and/or through Telescope, our company survey.

Pros

At the heart of the ecommerce industry with solid brand-name customers.

Cons

Poor hiring in the C-Suite starting in 2022 eroded marketing team culture, company culture and opened the door to competitors.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate you highlighting our cutting-edge technology and strong customer base – those are things we are proud to have built. We know that leadership transitions, especially during periods of rapid growth can impact team dynamics and culture. Since our significant expansion in 2022, we’ve focused on increasing transparent and building more meaningful connections across the company. That includes clearer communication around company health metrics including what they mean, how they impact our strategy, and how departmental decisions contribute to our overall performance. We’ve also expanded our internal communication channels from regular Ask Me Anythings sessions to both departmental and companywide newsletters. We’ve launched new employee resource groups, development programs, and training designed to support our people and their growth. And product-wise, we’ve delivered innovations that have helped us secure a spot as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce for five years in row. We are sorry to hear that your experience didn’t reflect the transparency and culture we’re continuing to build as we mature as a business. While there’s always more room to improve, we believe the progress made in recent years and the effort that our commercetoolers put into that has positioned us –– and our teams –– for longer-term success. Thanks again for your contributions during your time with us, and we wish you all the best in what’s next for you.
