Got important info during a interview

Pros

decent money, work from home, stock options.

Cons

so during my phone interview I had to dig it out of her how the hours work. this is for remote home work. There are 3 shifts, with the final shift ending at midnight. they are 4 month long shifts and after that your hours may change. They do first pick for hours based on performance. So the better you are at your job the least likely you get stuck finishing at midnight for 4 months. There is no pay difference for the night shift either and apparently no choice with what you get stuck with. I know shift work isnt for everyone but I can't imagine trying to juggle your life where you are massively changing your hours every 4 months.

Exciting place to be

Pros

The company is on a great trajectory, smart colleagues, a gorgeous office and truly interesting work that creates a unique tech experience and high pay. Plus what's better than to work for a Canadian tech company!

Cons

Scaling at a fast pace and under-resourced. This can be a great opportunity to learn a ton in a short time but some people find it overwhelming. You need to be able to advocate for yourself to succeed which is a great thing to learn regardless of where you work.

Pros

ecobee has plently of learning opportunities and a great COMPANY culture. They focus a lot on their company wide culture and it's great that it's a Canadian company.

Cons

While the company culture is great, team culture is lacking. The HR teams at ecobee are fantastic and I wish other department managers can learn something from them. The culture needs to improve significantly. Also, there needs to be more representation in the executive level. Lastly, it's so fast paced that every team meeting I've had involved my team members feeling burnt out and being stressed about the workload. Things need to change, within teams. Broadly speaking, the culture and work seems great until you look at it closely.
